Make Way For The Ducklings

Three Ducklings Sitting At Boston Commons

Three little ducks just sitting on the ledge. I found this shot while going through an old memory card from when my wife and I went to Boston two years ago! If there’s one thing being in quarantine has done, it’s made me dig through some old photos I’ve taken. But, ducks have a bigger history in this park then just that.

There’s actually an entire Children’s Book written about this park and a statue of bronze ducklings on one of the corners. Make Way for Ducklings is a children’s picture book written and illustrated by Robert McCloskey. First published in 1941, the book tells the story of a pair of mallards who decide to raise their family on an island in the lagoon in Boston Commons.

The book is actually the official children’s book of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. So, make way for the ducklings!
